ASI owns and operates a diverse fleet of advanced remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) that services a wide range of industries. ASI’s ROV Technicians are highly collaborative and have a passion for solving technical problems and figuring out how underwater data will meet a client’s needs. They often travel to interesting places together where they work long days in the field and enjoy experiencing new places together. Technicians tell us that they enjoy the mix of shop preparation, travelling, field work, data editing and report writing. ASI specializes in performing inshore long-tunnel inspections and dam surveys which provides a great alternative to an offshore lifestyle. 

ROV Technicians can expect to prepare and maintain ROV equipment for mobilization, participate in field operations, and collaborate on client deliverables. This role requires a hands-on approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. ASI offers a comprehensive training program where ROV Technicians will learn in a variety of settings. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor ROV systems and sensors during inspection operations.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and troubleshooting of ROV related equipment.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Lead Technicians to meet client and operational requirements.
  • Process underwater sensor data and assemble reports.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • A degree or diploma in a related program (i.e. ROV Pilot/Technician, Electronics/Mechanical/Robotics Engineering, Electronics/Mechanical Technology).
  • Experience piloting drones, ROVs, and utilizing sonar considered an asset.
  • A solid understanding of electronic systems; able to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Proficiency  with networking, CAD/design software, and MS Office Suite.  Use of Adobe products considered an asset.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working on or around water; boating experience considered an asset.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to write reports with accuracy.
  • Hold a valid standard driver’s license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Canadian passport and work visas to be able to travel internationally.
  • Physical strength and stamina: ability to load and offload equipment from trucks, trailers, shipping totes, etc.
