ASI Tracks Endangered Species with Bio-Monitoring
While conducting an underwater dam survey in British Columbia, numerous white sturgeon fish were observed in the spillway at the project site. Since the white sturgeon is on the endangered species list, ASI was then commissioned by the client to provide further monitoring of fish activity including their locations and size. This was not necessarily a service ASI offered previously but sticking with our roots of being a versatile company with an entrepreneurial attitude, our team put together a plan using our available technologies and equipment to offer bio-monitoring to the client. ASI provided comprehensive data that allowed the client to benchmark the species for future monitoring.
To effectively monitor fish presence and activity, ASI utilizes various means such as remotely operated vehicles (ROV) equipped with 2D, and 3D multibeam sonar with high resolution cameras, and vessel mounted dual frequency side scan sonar. ASI now has various options for Bio Monitoring. If you have a question or an upcoming project please contact John Lindsay.
